HELIOSPHERE
A recent publication on the Brazilian experience with more than 40,000 balloons placed provides a consensual view of the state of the art in the treatment of overweight and obesity by intragastric balloon (BIG). According to this panel of experts, the balloon has a wide range of indications, from overweight patients (body mass index [BMI] ≥27 kg/m2), to obese patients who do not meet the criteria for bariatric surgery, and super-obese (BMI ≥50 kg/m2), as a gateway to bariatric surgery. HELIOSPHERE responds to these indications.
